Dexter's presence here meant he wasn't entirely indifferent to Angela.
For Bill, this was a golden opportunity. It meant he could continue leveraging his self-proclaimed role as Dexter's
future father-in-law to gain benefits. This was nothing short of fantastic news.
"I heard she works here, so | stopped by," Dexter said casually, his gaze sweeping over the group before landing
on Angela.
"Are you upset?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
Angela looked at him as if she'd seen a ghost. "What are you doing here?"
She wasn't buying his story of just happening to pass by.
"| thought I'd take you out for a meal and have a chat." A faint smile curved his lips. "Need help?"
Angela rolled her eyes at him and was about to retort sharply when a thought struck her. His presence exuded
authority, which could save her the trouble of dealing with these idiots on her own.
"Perfect timing. Hector tried to harass my colleague. | found the evidence, but he's refusing to apologize..."
"Nonsense!" Hector, terrified, waved his hands frantically. "I'll apologize right now."
He quickly turned to Angela and bowed. "I was wrong. Please, Ms. Graham, be the bigger person and don't stoop
to my level."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"You don't even know who you should be apologizing to?" Angela shot him a disgusted look.
Hector trembled, then hurriedly turned to Yvonne and bowed even deeper, his humility so exaggerated it
seemed like his forehead might touch the floor.
The two walked out together, but Angela suddenly felt a burning gaze on her.
"What are you looking at?" She turned abruptly, catching Dexter with his faintly amused expression. Her
irritation flared.
When he didn't respond, Angela snorted coldly, a thought flashing through her mind.
"That Trevor... How did he suddenly beca celebrity? Are the standards for stardom that low these days?"
"There's no helping it. Grandma bought his fwith money. If it makes her happy, what can we do?"
Dexter lightly tugged on her arm, signaling that she was going the wrong way.
They redirected toward the elevator.
"Isn't there sway to ruin him?" Angela muttered through gritted teeth.
"Of course there is," Dexter replied. "Asknicely, and I'll help you take him down."
She sighed, giving up on the idea.
They stopped at a mall, where Dexter led her to a well-known restaurant, claiming he wanted to treat her to a
meal.
"Didn't you say you had something important?" Angela was highly skeptical of his motives.
He poured her a cup of tea and
smiled faintly. "I had a feeling you'd run into trouble today, so | cspecifically to help. After all, you're my
wife... at least in name. Your reputation reflects on mine."
Unsolicited kindness often concealed ulterior motives, so Angela decided not to engage with him further.
The food, however, was quite good.
Halfway through the meal, Angela suddenly thought about the shares.
"What's wrong?" Dexter asked, his gaze suspicious. "Don't like the food? Should | order a couple more dishes for
you?"
Angela was lost in her own thoughts and didn't respond for a long time.
She didn't know Bill very well. He was a selfish person, yes, but also a coward. He wouldn't dare to commit
outright crimes, but he was certainly
capable of unethical actions. Finding proof against him could be useful.
BUMS
The company was already in poor shape under his management. If this continued, it might go bankrupt before
she could even take control.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"What's wrong?" Dexter waved his hand in front of her.
Angela didn't hold back anymore and shared her thoughts with him.
Dexter scoffed. "Such a small issue?"
After finishing their meal, the two were walking out when a very familiar figure approached them head-on.
The person wore a baseball cap and
a black mask, striding directly
toward them. Angela instinctively moved to sidestep, but the figure stopped right in front of her.
"Angela, what a coincidence," the person said.
