Chapter 312 I Only Treat Her as a Sister Golden Crest Estates basked in a serene afternoon, but Clara was anything but calm. After her heated argument with Brynn at the coffee shop, she headed straight to the Boleyn family home.
She hailed a taxi, her face still bearing the mark of a slap, and her clothes a mess, stained with spilled coffee. Despite her disheveled appearance, the thought of Brynn's devastated look brought Clara a twisted sense of satisfaction.
This battle, though started by Brynn, was one Clara had won. And she wasn't planning to let Brynn off the hook just yet.
With the slap mark still fresh on her face, Clara was determined to cry her heart out in front of Desmond, confident that he would break things off with Brynn once and for all.
As Clara plotted her next move, she was unaware that the Boleyn family was dealing with their own turmoil. Desmond followed Gabriel downstairs, receiving a stern lecture about the importance of a sincere apology. Though he felt uneasy, Desmond agreed to everything.

You didn't just overlook Brynn's feelings; you completely disregarded her!" Ace's anger hadn't subsided, and he didn't hold back his reprimands. Desmond quickly continued to apologize and tried to calm Ace down.
Ace threw a stack of photos at Desmond, demanding an explanation. Desmond recounted the events of that day in detail, leaving nothing out. Clara, in his version, was like a sister to him, not by blood but by bond.
"I truly see her as a sister now," Desmond insisted. "And Mr. Elise, you can check the hotel's surveillance footage. After I took Clara to her room, I left immediately." Desmond hadn't stayed long in Clara's hotel room that night. She had been deeply upset, and after a few comforting words, she fell asleep, and he left. In hindsight, he was relieved he had left early, avoiding any further complications.
"I went to see Clara that night because her mother had beccomatose. She was too distraught to go hand askedto help find a doctor." Ace listened to Desmond's explanation with skepticism. He knew his daughter liked Desmond, but if Desmond was involved with someone else, he wouldn't allow Brynn to marry him. However, if Desmond's story held up, Ace might consider a compromise.
"Is that true? I'll have it checked right now!" Ace knew which hotel it was and quickly arranged to review the surveillance footage. Desmond felt a wave of relief and assured Ace, who then had the footage checked.
The footage confirmed Desmond's account; he had left Clara's room within minutes. Gabriel, sensing the tension easing, quickly added, "Now that everything's clear, we can't just call off the engagement. Everyone in Luminous City knows about our families' plans." Ace thought for a moment before saying, "Brynn likes you. Don't let her down." Desmond nodded immediately. Ace continued, "Even if you see Clara as a sister, we can't guess her intentions. I need your word that you'll cut ties with her." Desmond's face fell, but before he could refuse, Gabriel interjected, "Of course, we'll make sure he cuts ties with Clara!" Seeing Ace's expression soften, Gabriel signaled to Emily.
Emily understood and spoke gently, "Desmond had already distanced himself from that woman. It's Clara who keeps clinging to him. Desmond is kind-hearted and wanted to help when he heard about her mother. Clara took advantage of that." Emily had always disliked Clara and didn't hold back, detailing how Clara had been pestering Desmond.
Ace listened and then turned to Desmond, demanding a promise.
With Gabriel and Emily watching, Desmond reluctantly promised, "I swear, I won't contact Clara again." In his mind, he resolved to be more discreet in the future.
Ace felt somewhat satisfied and, thinking of his heartbroken daughter, told Desmond, "Cwithto my hand make it up to Brynn. She's been crying all day, and you haven't even shown up." Desmond didn't want to go but eventually agreed. "Mr. Elise, givea moment to change my clothes." Ace agreed, feeling stifled indoors, and went outside to wait. He called Brynn to let her know, but couldn't reach her. As he was about to call home, he noticed someone peering into the Boleyn family gate.

Clara, focused on her plan to cry to Desmond, didn't expect to run into Ace at the gate. Mistaking him for a Boleyn family member, she pleaded, "Can you call Desmond for me?" Clara covered half her face with her hand, looking pitiful.

Ace didn't recognize her immediately and replied calmly, "Desmond ism changing. He's about to leave. Do you need to see him urgently?"
Hearing Desmond was about to leave, Clara panicked. "I need to see him urgently. Can you tell him for me?" In her haste, Clara uncovered her face, and Ace recognized her.
"You're Clara?"
The very person they had just discussed had shown up, and she seemed familiar with the place. Clara nodded, confused.
"I'll call him for you. Wait here," Ace said, then went inside.
But instead of calling Desmond, he informed the Boleyn family that he was leaving early and then hid in a side area of the yard.
